the demo "zersetztes_decomposed" consists entirely of text. this text is bombarded, and the individual letters are cut up and reassembled. the result is something both familiar and alien - at the same time.
what we know—or think we know—is usually a mix of all sorts of things: the existing, the altered, and the new. often, the old is sold to us as something new. we don’t even notice this anymore because we now live in a society that has become almost entirely a society of spectacle. meaning is always at the mercy of constant change. we are living in dada- and mukokuseki-times - a permanent destruction and new creation of meaning.
you can protect the text with the mouse.
you can enter your own text to decompose.
this demo revives the demoscene of the 1980s and 1990s with its endless scrolling text, used to spread messages and show off. These demos were the first steps toward a purely digital future, beyond the merely digitized.
originally, the plan was to release this demo at mountainbytes.ch 2026. Now it’s coming out months later.
